Ch is for Charlton, Ch is for Championship
The Addicks were finally relegated last night after losing 2-0 at home to Spurs. In some ways I’m gutted but in some ways I’m excited. I’m obviously gutted because we won’t be playing in top flight football next year, we’re going to lose some of our star players and also I won’t be able to watch as many matches on TV. On the plus side the Championship is, in some respects, a far better league than the Premiership. It’s more unpredictable, exciting and it doesn’t have Chelski or Man Utd in it (believe me that’s a good thing).
As for our chances next year, I think with Pardew at the helm we stand every chance of bouncing back up (if not next season then the season after), just look at what he did with West Ham. It’ll be a good opportunity to foster some young talent both from our academy and further afield. It’ll also provide a possible morale booster - we’ll be going into a lot of games as favourites to win, something that rarely happened in the Premiership.
The other good thing about being relegated is that if Derby don’t get promoted we’ll have two Charlton v Derby games to look forward to. Kev - bring it on.
